The small black apprentice's tail swished back and forth, stirring up the dried brown leaves. She had just prepared herself to pounce on her sister, Minnowpaw, when she heard the fast approaching paw steps of the last hunting patrol. Darkpaw relaxed her tense muscles and,out of curiosity, joined her clanmates to see what the commotion was about. Minnowpaw bounded after her, completely oblivious to the young she-cat's previous plans. Wavewhisker, the deputy shared a few exasperated words with Pebblestar, then hurried off to sit a few pawsteps away.
